WATCH: Trump wouldn’t have explicitly asked for a bribe, House counsel testifies House Democratic counsel Daniel Goldman testified before the House Judiciary Committee that his experience as a prosecutor indicates people who are engaging in misconduct do not explicitly name their crimes. In President Donald Trump’s case, Goldman said Trump would not tell Ukraine’s president that he was going to bribe or exploit him. “That’s not the way these things work,” Goldman said in response to questions from another Democratic lawyer, Barry Berke. Goldman testified alongside GOP counsel Stephen Castor in the impeachment probe into Trump. The impeachment case has revolved around a July 25 phone call in which Trump asked the president of Ukraine to investigate former vice president and 2020 presidential candidate Joe Biden and his son, Hunter.
