As for my family, we had a host, my cousin who lives in San Juan. Thank you insan for the nth time, warm welcomes were given as always. We put two big umbrellas for shade. Then we grilled some pork, fish and squid. We also had some fresh muscles and sea weeds. My cousin also prepared "Sinanglaw", an Ilocano soup dish. Of course, whats a Filipino gathering without some alcoholic drink. Its a simple meal, but having to share it with family makes it special, "Masmasarap kumain kung may kaagaw".
The kids spent most of the time soaking in the water, from the moment we arrive till the time to go home. After having lunch, we relaxed and had a quick nap. Later in the afternoon, as planned, we set out to look for some surf boards to rent. Rent is by the hour, Php500 which includes an instructor. Instructions and safety precautions are given before going to the water. I was very excited. Took me a few tries before I was able to stand up on the board and make my way through the water. I got stoked and high from adrenaline.
All in all, another fun adventure. If you want try surfing, give San Juan a go. The waves are consistent and the instructors are nice and approachable and the really make the effort to teach proper technique on how to stand and ride the surf board. Also lots of other things to do here, no waste of time.
