How Is It Made? The Making Of A Ceramic Teapot, 'Buddha And The Jade Elephant' Putu Oka Mahendra was born in the Tabanan regency of Bali. His mother, Made Tantri, pioneered Balinese ceramic artistry in 1980.

When his mother passed away, Oka Mahendra took-over her work, and opened a ceramics museum at the workshop in her memory.

Using molds for the base design, each piece is carefully worked by hand before the glazing and firing process.

Each piece is dipped into colorless glaze. The final color is only revealed once the piece is fired in the kiln.
