The Nigerian government has restated its stance to punish peddlers of fake news and hate speech. This is coming barely 2 weeks after the Federal Government approved the increase of fines from N500,000 to N5,000,000 for breaches relating to hate speech, inciting comments and indecency. However, several Nigerians have accused the government of planning to use this platform as a means to clamp down on critical views.
