Russia launches major military exercises Center-2019 in Central Asia

The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation kicked off strategic military exercises Center-2019.

The drills will last on September 16-21. They are being held as the final stage of the complex of measures for operational (combat) training of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in 2019.

The troops will go on training missions to combat international terrorism and ensure military security in the strategic region of Central Asia.

The exercises will take place in two stages. During the first stage, the military will practice efforts to show proper reaction to air strikes, conduct reconnaissance, search and defensive actions.

During the second stage, commanders will work out issues of managing groups of troops when delivering massive strikes and conducting offensive operations to defeat conditional enemy.

To practice joint actions, the military contingents of China, Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan, India, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan are going to be involved in the exercises.

About 128,000 troops, more than 20,000 units weapons and military equipment, about 600 aircraft and up to 15 vessels and support ships take part in the strategic command exercises.
