IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati and commissioners Boya Molu and Abdi Yakub Guliye have survived an attempt to oust them through a parliament-driven technicality. The national assembly has passed the IEBC amendment bill that provides a mechanism for recruiting four commissioners to replace those who resigned between October 2017 and April last year. But as Francis Gachuri reports, a group of MPs led by minority leader Junet Mohamed were keen on shooting down the bill, to lay the ground for a total overhaul of the electoral commission.
