Reuters reports that the U.S. Department of Agriculture will provide farmers with $14.5 billion in direct payments s part of a $16 billion aid package. The aid is necessary for U.S. farmers to offset the financial pain from trade disputes with China and other nations. The USDA said that farmers will receive their first direct payment in July or August. Subsequent payments are scheduled for late fall and early 2020. Payments will be based on the counties in which farmers live, not by crop.
