Super-youthful Hong Kong actress hasn't aged a day since 1973 With her glowing skin and fashionable appearance, Hong Kong star Angie Chiu might seem to be a young actress at the height of her career. In fact, the 5ft4in beauty has ruled the screen for more than 45 years. Chiu's fans have billed the mother-of-three as the 'ultimate age-defying goddess'. They say she has not aged a day since first appearing in a beauty contest in 1973. Share this article Share 26 shares Chiu, a household name in the Far East, rose to fame after taking the fourth place of the Miss Hong Kong Pageant at the age of 18.Having featured in dozens of popular TV series in her long-running career, the renowned actress this month celebrated her 65th birthday.Pictures of the star marking the occasion on November 15 with a candlelit dinner have led thousands of people begging for her secrets of staying youthful after spending more than four decades in the limelight.  Born in Kowloon in 1954, Chiu has been a darling of Cantonese costume dramas since she was cast to star in her first TV show in 1974.She shot to stardom in 1979 after portraying Zhou Zhiruo, a leading female character in famed martial arts series The Heaven Sword and the Dragon Saber written by late author Jin Yong, who has been dubbed 'China's Tolkien'. Her popularity continued to surge in the early 80s when she played opposite Chow Yun-fat in The Bund, a period drama set in Shanghai in the 1920s. Filled with action and romance, the series would go on to be branded as 'the Godfather of the East'. In the mid-1980s, Chiu put her career on hold after marrying actor Melvin Wong and giving birth to their son in 1987. When she returned to the screen in the early 1990s, she brought her enthusiastic fans two classic TV shows: Legendary Chien Lung in 1991 and The Legend of White Snake in 1992. Since then, the award-winning actress has switched her focus from Hong Kong to the mainland China, appearing in films, TV shows and entertainment programmes.Chiu attributed her age-defying appearance to her regular lifestyle.She said in a previous interview that having enough sleep was the most important contributing factor for staying youthful.'No matter how late I go to bed, I will make sure that I sleep for eight to 10 hours,' she told Shanghai Morning Post.She also revealed that she tried to keep her meals light, adding she must drink a glass of juice every morning and a bowl of soup every evening.'I eat rice and like noodles in particular,' she added.The star confessed that she would stop eating a meal when she was 70 per cent full, claiming that helped her keep a slim figure.
