Making yourself visible v's road users who do not think ahead

Making yourself visible v's road users who do not think ahead I was passed today by many cars (example of which are in the first part of this clip) giving plenty of room. Was this because they were thoughtful? Yes ! could it have been because I was wearing something bright orange and had lights on which help those who are thoughtful see me earlier? could be! As a cyclist, I get passed by 100's of cars who give you plenty of room, but there are the ones that don't. At the end of the clip, it shows one of those drivers that doesnt think at all. It was far more important for him to get in front and dangerously cut across with a right hook. He could see me just as much as the others, he chose to make this move and this will hppen regardless of your attire. If I was wearing all black, that doesn't give him an excuse, and when people point out about wearing Hi Viz, its not always a case of 'Victim Blaming' its just pointing out the obvious. You get more of this on a commute or in a built up area for sure. But we should not be disingenuous as cyclists to go on a whataboutery rabbit hole without first acknowledging that Hi Viz clothing does stand out from natural colours, and it could help thoughtful drivers see us even earlier giving them time to adjust their approach. Discussion on twitter today with individuals who are not willing to address the facts that Hi Viz clothing helps you stand out from the back grounds provided by nature, city, towns or built up areas.
