Is there more than just beer in a bottle? | Peer Swinkels | TEDxVeghel

Is there more than just beer in a bottle? | Peer Swinkels | TEDxVeghel What do Mozart, Robinson Crusoe and a beer brewery have in common? In 1719 Mozart was born, Daniel Defoe wrote the world-famous book Robinson Crusoe and after some research you can also find something about the history of Bavaria, a family business, in the books for the first time.

2019: Officially 7 generations!
On average companies "only" exist seven years before being acquired or, alternatively buying their competitior or simply being dissolved. Of course, a family business of 300 years has its challenges.
In his talk, Peer talks about the challenges but also about the possibilities! How do you make a family business really ....futureproof and turn it into a real family? Leader - Beer Brewer - Sincere interest - Nothing is impossible - Guts
Accessible - Go-getter - Worsk (too) hard - Family man - Big dreams - down-to-earth approach

Nothing is impossible. That belief is deeply rooted in the way Peer Swinkels, CEO of Royal Swinkels Family Brewers, works. Peer combines big dreams with a down-to-earth approach and unprecedented perseverance. He is part of the Swinkels family of brewers in Brabant; as the seventh generation's descendant, entrepreneurship has been in the family's DNA for 300 years now.

Peer graduated in Econometrics from the Erasmus University in Rotterdam and gained experience as a trainee at KPMG and the Erasmus Food Management Institute. He started his career in 1999 as Brand Manager at Unilever. In 2003 he returned to the brewery and started his career at Royal Swinkels Family Brewers as Director Marketing and Product Development. Three years later, he joined the Board of Directors, where he held the position of Chief Commercial Officer. Since April 2019, Peer, now in the role of CEO, has embarked on his ultimate mission: to pass on the family brewery to the next generation.

As a board member and supervisory director, Peer is involved in various other organizations. There, too, he is characterized by his accessibility and sincere interest in the people around him. Based on good personal relationships, he manages to achieve sharp business results, but always with a wink to the unique entrepreneurial spirit of the Swinkels family.
