Review of the Huawei Freebuds 3 after more than a week of testing, to see if these ANC true wireless earbuds are as good as Apple's AirPods 2 and among the best noise cancelling earphones you can buy right now. Truly wireless buds are hugely popular in 2019, with Apple launching the fresh new AirPods Pro and Huawei fighting back with its own Freebuds 3 earphones. Like the Pro headphones, these earbuds boast ANC - although the lack of a proper silicone tip means you don't get a perfect seal, so external noise still intrudes.
All the same, Huawei's Freebuds are commendable in most areas. I've been testing for over a week ahead of this review and the Bluetooth 5.1 support means a strong, stable connection. Those touch controls work well and the audio quality makes them among the best true wireless earbuds with this form factor - they're easily as good as the AirPods 2.
Using the AI Life app, you can play around with the touch controls and also that noise cancelling feature - although this seems to have minimal effect. You can grab Huawei's app online for Android smartphones but there's no iOS support.
CORRECTION: The AI Life app apparently will be available via the Google Play soon, Huawei has just informed me post-shoot!
