Students in Mr. Fisher's 8th Grade Science Class have been learning about elements, compounds and mixtures. In this lab, students physically combine two elements together to form a mixture. Then they chemically combine the mixture using a Bunsen burner and fume hood. This creates a compound. They then test the properties of the new substance and compare it to the properties of each element before the reaction occurred. The result: New substance results in new properties.
