We face the need for a new generation of Europeans - EU's High Rep Mogherini

Federica MOGHERINI, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy & Vice-President of the European Commission, has been speaking on "Implementing the EU Global Strategy: Challenges and Opportunities".

Mogherini gave a lecture at the sixth annual "EU Diplomacy Lectures" in Bruges, Belgium.

Since November 2014 she has been the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, being the chief diplomat for 500 million Europeans.

Shortly she will be succeeded by Spain's Josep Borrell who will take up a five-year term as High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, and of Vice-President of the European Commission.

During her lecture Mogherini overviewed her five years in office.
