At least 29 people were arrested near Aarey colony on Saturday after protesting against the MMRC's tree felling operation to build a car shed. MMRC resumed felling trees at Aarey Colony from 3.15 am on Saturday. Several people gathered to protest against the hacking of trees. Around 100 people were detained by Mumbai police. Felling of trees began Friday night after Bombay HC dismissed petition against the move. Bombay High Court also refused to declare the Aarey colony a forest land.
