In this video I show how I shape my jade tree and propagate it from cuttings. Jade tree is also know as money tree in Feng Shui and is believed to bring luck and wealth to it's owner, once it blooms. However, it rarely blooms. But besides that, jade tree is also a great air filter and is very easy to take care of. It likes light, but no direct sun, otherwise it would scorch the leaves and they will turn red. Water only from March to end of September when the soil dries out completely, from October to end of February plant is resting and doesn't need watering at all, as it accumulates water in its leaves. However, if the air in your house is very hot and dry even during winter and you notice that your jade's leaves are wrinkling, you need to water it. Jade tree would not branch out by itself, especially if it is grown from a cutting. You have to help it, otherwise you will end up with lopsided tree that can topple over and break. I usually snip the tops of branches at the point, where leaves become smaller (usually I have 4-5 sets of leaves on one branch before I snip them) and plant the tops separately or in the same pot to make more jade plants. You can plant them directly into the soil, no need to keep it in water to make it root, it's a succulent and might rot! I just plant them directly into the soil, provide light (no direct sun though) and let the plant do the rest. Hope this helps and good luck!
