His mother, Maria Dolores Aveiro, said in her autobiography that he was an “unwanted baby”. She wanted to abort Ronaldo when she fell pregnant. Her husband and Ronaldo’s father, Jose Dinis Aveiro, was an alcoholic, and the family was poor.
"I wanted to abort but the doctor didn't support my decision”
The neighbor of Dolores told her if she wanted abortion, she had to drink black beer and "ran till she dropped". But nothing happened. Ronaldo was a fighter even unborn!
"God didn’t want that to happen and I was blessed because of that and God didn’t punish me.”
"Sometimes Ronaldo makes fun of me and says: 'You didn’t want me to be born. But now you see that I’m here helping all of you.' And, well, sometimes we have a laugh about that."
Ronaldo’s father died aged 53 in 2005.
"He would drink nearly every day. It frustrates me that he was never able to see my successes."
Cristiano has five FIFA BALLON D'OR, five Champions League, four FIFA CLUB WORLD CUP, he is European Champion with Portugal and has won a lot of country championships with Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus.
