‘Twilight College’ was launched in late 2018 and is run across each of our campuses in Bromley, Bexley, Greenwich and Orpington. It is led by Mytime Active in partnership with Boxing4Schools, Cray Wanderers Community Scheme, YOYO and Peabody Trust.
Activities on offer include dance, yoga, football, gym sessions, boxing, singing and rap music production and much more. Nearly 300 students are involved with Twilight College and it’s open to everyone, including those with disabilities.
Twilight College was established in response to several reports , which have highlighted that young people are most likely to be involved with knife crime on their way home from school between 4 and 6pm. Children’s Commissioner Anne Longfield has also called for schools and colleges to stay open for longer at a recent Education Select Committee.
The aim of this programme is to provide our students with a safe environment in which to be after college. With an increase in mental health issues and decrease in physical activity among 16-24 year olds, the clubs we are offering support students with their physical, mental and emotional health.
Each session is delivered by a qualified coach or tutor. Focus groups were held to support the development of the activities, ensuring they meet the needs and interests of our students.
