Our implicit knowledge of things such as money often leads us astray

Some things you're taught, some you research, and some you pick up along the way. Awareness of the functioning of money, like grammar, is usually picked up along the way.

So it's not surprising that our general understanding of currency is naive, and as our understanding of value is based heavily on money as a store of value that it usually suspect too.

My kids think they understand money. They don't. I'm not sure I do either.
