In US news today, the Alabama abortion debate and Georgia abortion law are captivating the nation. Many are speaking out against the aboriton law and fetal heartbeat bill like Jameela Jamill and Busy Philipps. With these anti-abortion bills, Roe v Wade hangs in the balance.

Jamil took to Twitter to slam Georgia’s controversial ‘heartbeat bill,’ signed into law on May 7, 2019 by Governor Brian Kemp. Effective Jan 1, the law bans abortions after as little as 6 weeks, when a fetal heartbeat is usually detectable. Doctors have said that the ‘heartbeat bill’ will virtually ban most abortions because many women don’t know they’re pregnant until after 6 weeks . Jamil, a UK citizen who also lives in the U.S., called the law‘ upsetting,’ ‘inhumane,’ and showing ‘hatred of women’ and shared her own abortion story in response.

On Twitter, celebrities including Chris Evans, Alyssa Milano, and Janelle Monae slammed a subsequent Alabama abortion bill after passing in the state Senate on May 14, 2019.
