Adding tradelines to bad credit: Good or bad idea? It's best to buy tradelines after credit repair. Buying tradelines if you have bad credit is not the best idea. But, it depends on the specific details of the credit report (sometimes it's okay, other times it's not).

Backing up: "Can you" be an authorized user if you have bad credit, the answer is "yes." However, the implicit question (which is much more important) is "should you" be an authorized user if you have bad credit.

Whether you should add tradelines if you have bad credit is probably the single most important question you could ask. Unfortunately, it's never asked. What happens is that we have a lead who wants tradelines and we discover that tradelines are inappropriate.

Two things usually happen: 1) They are disappointed, until 2) They realize we're telling the truth and saved them from wasting money or getting ripped off by someone less honest.

The best way to find out if tradelines will work (or if your credit is bad, but not bad enough to prevent tradelines from working) is through our free credit report analysis.

We review how many negative items you have and how recent they are and the type of negative items. Depending on the results of our analysis, we will make a recommendation.

It's usually one of two things:

1) Tradelines will work: We make a recommendation, you buy, everyone's happy.
2) Tradelines will not work: We make a recommendation for alternative credit services (such as credit repair or debt settlement) and once you're complete, you move back to option number 1, above.

The good news is that all of these problems are solvable, but doing it the wrong way can just make the problems worse.
